Emily C. Lierman worked with Ophthalmologist William H. Bates as his assistant. Dr. Bates cured her eyesight.
They worked together for many years in Dr. Bates New York City Clinic curing unclear vision, astigmatism, crossed/wandering eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, blindness and other eye problems by treatment with natural methods, without eyeglasses, surgery, drugs. Many patients were treated for free. They were married in 1928.

This began the Natural Eyesight Improvement revolution.

Her kind treatment of the children, senior citizens, all races, each individual patient in the Clinic, (a loving mom, nurse, friend, Original Natural Eyesight Improvement Teacher, Dr. Bates dependable assistant, companion all combined into one) was a major factor in the many eyesight cures she and Dr. Bates accomplished.

Hearing, asthma, nervousness, headache, insomnia, stuttering, various types of pain, movement, balance, coordination, fearful thoughts and emotions and other conditions were also cured by the natural eyesight practice.

Eye doctors that preferred to sell eyeglasses, surgery and drugs destroyed the magazines, stories, hid them from the public for years after Dr. Bates death because these magazines, books tell the truth about the cause and natural cure of imperfect sight and other eye problems, disease, how to avoid eyeglasses, surgery, drugs. Before Dr. Bates death in 1931, age 70 he and Emily stated in the Better Eyesight Magazine 1930 final issue and other issues that they were going to write more books, create movies, projects. So far these have never been found. Someone out there may be hiding it.
Emily may have been threatened by the eye surgeons, optical industry as many other Bates teachers were. Laws were passed in New York city and other areas after Dr. Bates death preventing people from teaching the Bates Method. Only eye doctors were allowed to teach it. But they refused to teach because it works, they would lose their business of selling addictive glasses and high priced eye surgery. Optometry, Ophthalmology, Optician colleges would not teach it.
If you have these old books, movies.., please come forward. Share it with the world as Dr. Bates, Emily and other teachers would have done. Careful giving it to some vision teachers. Not all are honest. Some have ego problems and will hide the material, never give to the public or charge a very high price. In 1940 Emily preserved Dr. Bates book 'Perfect Sight Without Glasses' in the Crypt of Civilization and added extra pages, training, an eyechart to this final print edition. The entire book is in process of being scanned in it's original state and reproduced into paperback, hardcover and a free PDF.
